Comfort Bicycles: An Inviting Alternative

Going for a bike ride doesn't have to mean a sore bum and aching back. New bicycles promise a much better ride.

Comfort bicycles are supposed to be exactly what their name implies - comfortable. Lately, comfort bikes have shot up in popularity and demand, as people look for a new way to exercise without the normal aches and pains associated with regular bikes. These comfort bikes push a person into a more upright position and are designed with the body in mind instead of speed.

Look for a comfort bike that has a properly padded seat. Be sure that it is wide enough to accommodate your hips and that it doesn't poke you in any particular spot. Normally gel padding for a seat is not recommended as it doesn't breathe, but in this case it may be ideal. Just remember that too much padding can become just as uncomfortable as too little padding. Find something in between that still suits your needs and be sure to sit on it for a while before hitting the road with it.

Granted, one cannot go quite as fast with a comfort bike, but that seems to have little affect on those purchasing them. Just getting outside and being able to stay there a while longer makes getting one of these bikes a very worthwhile investment. Although seniors find them wildly sensible, people of all ages have begun to seek them out as well. Everyone is beginning to realize the benefits of exercise and what fun cycling can be. Whether you're biking to the store or trailing a few haphazard grandkids, comfortable bicycles might just be your best bet.
